Dr. Prasenjit Maity (MSc, PhD), Professor of
Chemistry & Nanotechnology is currently holding the position of Campus
Director, National Forensic Sciences University –Guwahati Campus.
Dr. Maity did his PhD from IIT-Bombay in 2008
under Prof. Goutam Kumar Lahiri. Afterwards he spent more than five years (2008
to 2013) abroad as postdoctoral fellow first at University of Padova (with
Prof. Michele Maggini), Italy and then at University of Tokyo (with Prof.
Tatsuya Tsukuda), Japan. In January 2014, he joined the Gandhinagar Campus of
this University as an assistant professor and subsequently he got promoted to
Associate Professor in 2018 and to Professor in 2022. He is a passionate researcher
with strong research focus on developing new Nano-analytical techniques and
novel nanomaterial based devices for forensic investigative research with a
special focus on developing sensors of ‘Explosives and Narcotic drugs’ and
‘developing imaging techniques for forensic evidences’, ‘Developing markers for
GSR analysis’. As principal investigator, Dr. Maity has conducted research
projects sponsored by DST (SERB) and CSIR in the area of nanotechnology based
innovations in forensic investigations.
Previously Dr. Maity has served as Director
of IRD, coordinator for NFSU’s RUSA grant, DST-FIST grant and SSIP Cell and
presenting he is also the Dean of School of Engineering and Technology. 4 PhD
students and more than 50 Masters Students have completed their research work
under his supervision. He has published 45 research papers in international journals
with high impact factor, 01 patent and 05 Book chapters and presented his work
in more than 25 national and international conferences in India and abroad in
the form of invited talk, oral presentation and poster presentation. He also
received CSIR research fellowship (JRF & SRF) and qualified in GATE with
all India rank of 05 in the discipline of chemical sciences. He received the
best research award from the World gold council in the year 2012 in Tokyo.
